@eddavey.libdems.org.uk , @ldbrianmathewmp.bsky.social , on the off-chance that this is not just click bait, perhaps you could ask the Home Sec whether refugees' looted possessions will be auctioned off regionally (e.g. Devizes has a good auction house) or centrally, like old army Land Rovers.

There is a direct line between Donald Trump trying to destroy the BBC and him excusing the brutal murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi.

Trump hates the independent free press – whether in the US, Saudi Arabia or the UK. We will always defend it.
Trump suggests Khashoggi had it coming: "You're mentioning someone that was extremely controversial. A lot of people didn't like that gentleman that you're talking about. Whether you like him or didn't like him, things happen. But he knew nothing about it. You don't have to embarrass our guest."

Trump and his cronies have the BBC in their sights. Leaders can’t stay silent while one of our great institutions is attacked.

We must defend its independence, end political appointments, and remove Robbie Gibb from the Board.

Today my thoughts are with everyone affected by the dreadful attack near Huntingdon - the victims, their loved ones, and everyone who witnessed it. We're all hoping those injured make a full recovery.

Grateful to the passengers and emergency services who showed such bravery.

We just stopped Nigel Farage’s plan to drag Britain out of the ECHR and tear up people’s rights. Farage wanted to scrap Churchill’s legacy and bring us closer to Trump's America.

Nigel Farage wants to take away your rights.

The ECHR has secured our freedoms as we know them, from torture (1978), to the press (1979), to sexual expression (1981), and privacy (2025).

Today, I voted to defend these rights.

When Trump bullies Canada, Britain can’t stay silent. The Prime Minister needs to come out and clearly criticise these tantrum tariffs, not sit on the fence. 🇬🇧🇨🇦

Last year I met Itzik Horn, whose two sons were being held captive by Hamas. Yair was released earlier this year and today I am overjoyed that Eitan is also going home.

I cannot imagine the trauma their family has suffered, and I pray they can now start to heal and move forward.

Who does Farage work for - the people of Clacton or his paymasters? I'm sure most people know the answer to that.

Lucrative second jobs for MPs and big money political donations must be made serious criminal offences. They subvert democracy and are gateways to corruption.

News of a ceasefire deal in Gaza brings real hope.

The UK and our allies must do all we can to get the hostages home, get aid in to starving people, and finally end this horrific violence.

This must be the first step towards a two-state solution and a lasting peace.

I am horrified by the images of a mosque in Peacehaven burning after a suspected arson attack.

Everyone should be able to worship free from fear and terror.

Islamophobia is totally unacceptable. Those who spread hatred and incite violence against Muslim communities must stop.

Leaving the ECHR would hand Putin a huge victory.

Those who advocate doing so are colluding with an enemy of our country.

They are traitors.

We in the UK have to retake the flags. They are currently very powerful weapons in the hands of the enemies of democracy. One step in doing that is linking the flags to the war against fascism. Let's see how well Farage and Yaxley-Lennon can stomach that.

We must do the same for Melksham and see a new railway station opened at Devizes Gateway
Dualling just a three-mile section of track around Cranbrook and Whimple would give the West of England line the capacity it needs to run twice-as-frequent services from Axminster, Honiton, Feniton and Whimple to Exeter.

I’m old enough to remember when Conservative Party leaders believed in law and order.
Kemi Badenoch refusing to acknowledge that Tommy Robinson is "far-right", now on LBC, and refusing to condemn Elon Musk's words. In fact she says what Musk said *isn't* incitement. So what would be incitement then? How violent would his words have to be before he was deemed a threat to this country?

🍺 Pubs are the heart of our communities🍺

This week I stood up in Parliament for our local pubs. They’re more than just places to eat and drink. They’re where neighbours meet, friendships are made, and communities thrive.

Profitable pubs pay taxes. Closed pubs don’t.
