Enthusiastically reluctant
The first time I went to Venice was in February, by train. I was not prepared for the train to leave the land and to suddenly be surrounded by water and mist and barbershop poles, and then we arrived and I walked out of the station and I was just on the Grand Canal, fucking magical
It's that time of night when everyone is done riffing and back to posting the most horrific things they can and I encourage you to allow your brain to focus on this for a while.

Remember a trip on a train or a bus or a ferry or gondola. Remember what made it memorable. Then remember two more.
What are your three favorite transit lines?

- Denver airport light rail to Union Station
- SF Ferry to Jack London Amtrak
- Angel's Flight Los Angeles

it is impossible to overstate the extent to which this country is now being run by people you would leave a party rather than talk to for five minutes
they hate music, they hate art, they hate artists, they hate pop, they hate the video games they play, they hate the movies they watch, like, they're just all the worst fucking people you've ever met, none of them believe in anything

The first school to market itself as AI free is going to corner the market on people interested in actually learning. And I would not be surprised if rich families and the children of people creating this tech were the first movers.
My employer, Dartmouth College, today boasts it's 1st Ivy "to launch AI at an institutional scale." It is doing this by partnering--"more than a collaboration"--with Anthropic, a company that stole the books of many faculty, me included, which many of us are suing.

“Two years ago, Lia was a talented young swimmer at Middlebury; now, her name is almost entirely absent from the college’s athletics website, and her roster profile has been removed entirely.”
The death of Lia Smith shook many in the trans community to their cores, while online it seemed like the top priority of non-trans people was to insist there's no proof that the 21-year-old's ban from her beloved swim team caused her suicide.

Re-sharing as it was one of our top stories this year.

that's not fog of war. When you're sitting in central command watching from a video, you are in the opposite of fog of war. You have maximum tactical data available to you.

Fog of war is for soldiers engaged in combat on the ground, who have limited tactical data and no perspective.
Q: So you didn't see any survivors after that first strike?

HEGSETH: I did not personally see survivors. The thing was on fire. This is called the fog of war. This is what you in the press don't understand. You sit in your air conditioned offices and plant fake stories in the Washington Post

Actually, the likelihood is 100%. In US jurisprudence, accused people are innocent until proven guilty. Hegseth's victims were not proven guilty; they were not even tried. Therefore they were ALL, to the last man, legally innocent. Hegseth ordered the murders of several dozen innocent men.
Rand Paul just posted this letter from the Coast Guard confirming that 1/4 of the boats they stop carry no contraband. The likelihood that Hegseth & Bradley ordered the murder of innocent civilians is very high.
