My father-in-law retired from academia in the ‘90’s. I don’t think he recognise the profession now and would be dismayed to hear how staff are struggling these days.

Postural balance is taken as a subsidiary motor task, not a homeostatic task like thermoregulation.

But balance and sensations of weight have a valenced aspect which permeates experience and emotion not unlike hot-cold sensations do.

I really enjoyed reading this extremely well-written and provocative piece on #interoception If I understood correctly, in contrast to most exteroception, interoception is slower, coarser, more compressed, and more integrated. Interested what the authors think about graviception as interoception
Excited to finally share this paper, nearly 5 years in the making! In it, me and co-authors share our thoughts on how (and to what extent) signals from the body map onto affective feelings. Writing this definitely brought forth more questions than answers! authors.elsevier.com/c/1ieTJ4sIRv...
