1 August 2025 was the 3rd anniversary of the implementation of Act 470 which restored rights to adult adopted people to have access to their own original birth certificate.

Act 470 restored rights to adopted people born in Louisiana to access their own birth certificate like every other non-adopted citizen- finally treating adopted people as equals with dignity and respect.

Louisiana recently changed the law so that people who were adopted could get their birth certificates, which has helped some track down their birth families.

Congratulations to Georgia! SB 100 known as Andee’s Law was passed by the legislature yesterday restoring rights to an adult adopted people to have access to their original birth certificate! Way to go!!!
