And aside from the substance of the amendment, it is impressive to see #ICC judges agree to amend regulations (and make this change binding) instead of putting it in a chambers practice manual!

The #ICC Pre-Trial Chamber has confirmed all the charges against #Kony in absentia:

Interestingly, neither the prosecutor nor the defence can appeal this decision “until Mr Kony has been notified of the decision upon his surrender to the Court.”

I do wonder why - given the overlapping nature of many of these arguments - we don't have any joint submissions like we have seen in some interventions recently. Possibly it was just because of the very short timeframe, States didn't have time to negotiate.

Serbia seeks to intervene in Sudan v. UAE to argue that reservations to art. 9 of the Genocide Convention are legally valid.

(Not sure that's a "construction" of art. 9 per se. More likely a "construction" of the treaty as a whole to identify its object and purpose)

The ICJ has resolved the uncertainty surrounding Judge Salam's resignation by electing Judge Iwasawa to serve as its President for the remainder of the current term (through 5 February 2027). This appears to mean that Julia Sebutinde will continue as Vice-President (and not Acting President).

Big news from the #ICJ: Judge #Iwasawa has been elected President of the Court to complete Judge #Salam's original term until Feb 2027.

After Judge Salam's resignation in January to become PM of #Lebanon, many of us were wondering who'd become President of the Court and if there'd be an election.
