I LEARNED THE ANSWER TO THIS

Chris's Steakhouse was a New Orleans landmark

Chris Matulich periodically got bored, sold it, waited for the new owner to fail, and bought it back cheap

The sale conditions: Can't move it, can't change the name

He did this six times

Then he sold it to Ruth Fertel
what did ruth mean when she said her steakhouse was "chris"

Someone at work had a great prompt to share the earliest example of your design work you can find. I learned the Wayback Machine supports Flash, so I was able to see one of my first portfolio sites from 2002 which included an ad I designed as a student

If you've ever wondered what a slug on a hamster wheel looks like, you'll love this story
In 2014 Dutch scientists left a hamster wheel outside, to see if wild animals would use it like their domesticated counterparts.

The answer: hell yes! 734 visits from wild mice - plus rats, shrews, slugs ("running" being subjective here) & even frogs and snails.

The apparent reason: fun. Just fun.

Really liked this post from @carlyayres.com on how the design market is evolving (again). Hybrid thinking and skills combined with curiosity are superpowers.

Still thinking about this quote from @alexmorris.bsky.social most recent newsletter:

I built a weird little site in an afternoon: Halucidations.

It serves up inspirational ideas that seem profound… until they don’t. It's mostly confusing but also somehow comforting: halucidations.kyleio.com

Many people don't understand what a high level of community spread means, so it's very helpful to translate wastewater data into estimated infections like this. 1 in 55 works out to roughly 2-4 people with an active COVID infection in every crowded subway car. Wear a mask.

Feels like Ska bands are like cicadas – they emerge from the underground every few years, make a lot of noise, and disappear after mating
Bluesky is getting the real posts, not like those posers on Twitter. From here on out I'm just talking about Ska and Ska punk
