Illinois is leading on AI therapy regulation.

“Therapy is more than just word exchanges,” Treto said. "It requires empathy, it requires clinical judgment, it requires ethical responsibility, none of which AI can truly replicate right now.”

I spent a year working on this bill with some incredible legislators and a regulatory board that understood the urgency. So glad to see the WOPR (yes named after War Games) become law.
An Illinois bill banning AI therapy has been signed into law.

"At best, AI-driven therapy poses major privacy risks. At worst, it could exacerbate a person’s mental health crisis, especially when vulnerable users mistake a chatbot for professional care."

The Illinois ban isn't about stopping AI in mental health—it's about shaping how we integrate technology with human care responsibly. The future belongs to those who can bridge innovation with trust, efficiency with empathy, and technology with humanity.

My bill banning unregulated AI therapy in Illinois is now officially LAW. Thanks to @govpritzker.illinois.gov for standing with patients to safeguard mental health care, pausing the unchecked expansion of AI, and putting necessary regulations in place before more harm is done.

In case anyone forgot - Rahm Emanuel is an awful human. #Twill
In 2016, as Chicago mayor, Emanuel banned city employees from making most trips at the city’s expense to North Carolina, which banned trans people from using the bathroom that aligned with their gender.

He also backed an ordinance blocking any Chicago business from imposing similar bans.
Rahm Emanuel criticized Dems for talking about "pronouns," but Megyn Kelly is the first interviewer I've seen drill down for his views.

Boys + girls are "fundamentally, physically different." No "men claiming they're women" in women's prisons.

"Can a man become a woman? No."

We are. There is a bill in Illinois and Nevada waiting for signatures.
Shit, I think we should be lobbying state govts right now to assure that health insurance won’t cover AI therapy, bar companies from calling its use “therapy” — especially the way it’s currently developed for continued engagement & how AI hallucinates etc
