It's finally cool enough to wear this sweater I bought on clearance at Talbots at the end of the season, and have been wanting to wear. But when I put on it with my pearls I realized it had strong middle aged teacher vibes. Then I realized I am, in fact, a middle aged teacher now 😅

instead of saying this was good strategy, maybe senate dems should say: "the republicans were going to kill people by starving them to death, and because we aren't monsters, we decided to let this fight go. We'll keep fighting. Stop electing monsters."

The thing about Mamdani is that he’s a talented politician but not otherworldly or one in a billion, he’s just a competent guy with popular ideas who ran against an entitled piece of shit and to me it’s a lot more optimistic to imagine 1000 campaigns like his than to view him as a unique phenomenon

Taking over a party from within is a real thing that happens. There’s precedent for it at multiple points in American Trump JUST DID IT to the GOP.

Creating a new viable party hasn’t happened since 1856.
There’s a two party duopoly in this nation.

Is it great? No! Is it reality? Yes.

Creating a third party means building up an entirely new infrastructure from scratch and then fighting both R & D.

Taking over the Dem Party is an easier and more effective route. It’ll take time, but it’s worth it.

Hey, a lot of people are talking about changing affiliation from Democratic to Independent.

Let me tell you why you shouldn’t do that in Colorado.

One of the main ways to get a primary challenge candidate on a ballot is to caucus for your party. You need to be registered as a Dem to caucus.

Remember when Brett Favre took $5 million in TANF funds to build a stadium, and then we never heard about it again? This is all I can think about when Rs complain about how people use SNAP.

#Cancer treatment being banned by #ExecutiveOrder. Sane country we have here.
And #breastcancer in men is usually far more deadly
Citing a Trump executive order banning "gender ideology," the VA is withholding coverage and treatment for male veterans with breast cancer, an increasing condition among veterans exposed to toxic chemicals during service. 100 male veterans a year are diagnosed with breast cancer.
Citing Trump Order on “Biological Truth,” VA Makes It Harder for Male Veterans With Breast Cancer to Get Coverage
A Department of Veterans Affairs memo obtained by ProPublica erects new roadblocks to care for veterans with the rare but deadly cancer. The agency cites no new science but relies on an executive orde...

This story is extraordinary even by 2025 standards. Marco Rubio, the nation's top diplomat, made a deal with Bukele and agreed to renege on informant agreements in a years-long DOJ investigation into MS-13, totally undercutting credibility of such agreements.

Rubio promised to betray U.S. informants to get Trump’s El Salvador prison deal
To secure U.S. access to President Nayib Bukele’s notorious CECOT prison, Rubio agreed to turn over several MS-13 leaders central to a long-running Justice Department investigation.

autism moms and transphobic parents are basically the same phenomenon.

They want to believe that the kid being different, not what they expected is due to an external damage, that hurt their child.

Their property.
Because they do see kids as property.

Texas AG Ken Paxton is attempting to make an example of Beto O’Rourke.

Paxton has filed a barrage of baseless charges against him for actions in 2025—identical to actions he carried out in 2021 without issue: raise funds to support a quorum break by Democratic members of the #txlege.

As I say anytime anyone asks, it’s gotta be more fun to be in the movement than to not be in the movement.
In an ethnographic study of youth political organizations, one of my PhD students found that the primary driver of engagement wasn't concern about particular issues but rather the chance to do something fun together with friends (eg, make posters for rallies, or go to meetings with free food).
