One important part of The Dunn Lab culture is to spend time together outside the lab!

It was so refreshing to be able to host a recent lab lunch for us to reconnect & share ideas in a different setting - always great for creativity ✨🧪

Psychologists & related fields: what is a big methods question that you believe remains somewhat unanswered & that you'd love to see adressed? There may be an opportunity for a large-scale meta-science project with many teams trying to figure out a question.

Any thoughts welcome! #psychscisky

Here is your occasional reminder that

The United States has plenty of resources to feed, house, and provide medical care for everyone

We have made a choice as a society that, rather than doing that, we would rather allow people to selfishly hoard these resources

This is a choice

Is workplace loneliness just about feeling isolated from colleagues, or is there more to it?👨‍⚕️👷‍♀️

In our new paper in SPPE, we found that workplace loneliness goes beyond work relationships + can include disconnection from one’s organisation + society at large🧵

Like so many of the trends of the 1880’s-1920’s, eugenics is on the rise. Scientists have a moral obligation to speak up.
Eugenics is on the rise again: human geneticists must take a stand
Scientists must push back against the threat of rising white nationalism and the dangerous and pseudoscientific ideas of eugenics.

Take a good look at who is speaking out. Grad students are running the biggest science protest because no one else would. Institutions are going to be targeted no matter what we do. Might as well go down fighting.
Thank you!

I, too, am shocked that so many are so quiet as if they think it will protect them from the worst of this. I don't think it will.
@jeremymberg.bsky.social is a national hero. Too many of my tenured colleagues are hiding in their offices, hoping the storm will pass over them if they keep their head down. I'm immensely grateful that Dr. Berg has the opposite response to this moment.
