What a great title! Study of 138 trans & nonbinary parents finds kids develop typically—parent gender identity isn’t linked to child outcomes. Parenting stress, not identity, predicts behavioral challenges. Counters unfounded claims TGNB parents harm children. #SOGI #LGBTQParenting #FamilyResearch
Parenting Stress, Rather Than Gender Identity, Predicts Child Adjustment Among Children of Nonbinary and Binary Transgender Parents
Social scientists know little about the experiences of transgender and nonbinary (TGNB) parents and their children's development. In this study of 138 transgender parents (age M = 35.28 years; 86.2% ...

“If NIH restricts the collection of gender data, it will limit our ability to conduct rigorous, representative research,” said Brittany Charlton, an associate professor at Harvard Medical School… “Gender and sex are not interchangeable. Failing to measure both means missing vital information”
SCOOP: The NIH is moving to prohibit funded scientists, inside and outside the agency, from collecting data about gender, according to a draft policy I obtained. It’s part of the NIH’s aggressive crackdown on gender-identity research. www.chronicle.com/article/gend...
Gender Data Would Be Off-Limits Under Proposed NIH Policy
A draft rule would bar scientists funded by the agency from collecting data about gender identity, following other steps the administration has taken to restrict research on LGBT topics.

This is a heartbreaking day for transgender youth and their families.

However, it’s important to remember: even after today’s SCOTUS decision in U.S. v. Skrmetti, transgender young people will still be able to receive care in the states that have not banned it.

This is upsetting news that comes on the same day that Supreme Court upholds a ban on access to care that reduces suicide risk among trans youth. Past data suggests that we can anticipate a surge in youth in need of crisis services today. Help is still available: www.thetrevorproject.org/get-help/

"Women are PIs on 58% of the canceled grants, although they are PIs on only 34% of all active NSF grants.

Similarly, Blacks are PIs on 17% of the terminated grants, although they make only 4% of the total pool. Hispanic PIs and those with disabilities were twice as likely to lose a grant."
Another scoop from Jeff Mervis (@policyhound.bsky.social): NSF's ~1400 grant terminations have disproportionately affected PIs from groups underrepresented in science: women, racial & ethnic minorities, & those with disabilities. 1/3
