Hey kids, it's whacking time! @decosmic.bsky.social is back to talk with @donmosquito.bsky.social about the whacking of Ninja Dog. At least that's what the description suggests... and it mentiones Ninja Gaiden 4 and Platinum Games. Sounds like fun.

Recently I'm actually quite good at just doing the stuff, that I have to do, quickly instead of last minute. Shocking!

Love the Maiku Hama movies and I have no idea what awaits me with this Takashi Ishii Box, but I guess I'll have a good time.

Let’s also not forget that Nakadai was the first guy who got to gush an absolute geyser of blood in a samurai movie, a happy accident that became a trope.

(this short interview with Nakadai is delightful)

The Age of Assassins - Anarchic spy spoof from Kihachi Okamoto starring Nakadai as a mild-mannered professor of criminal psychology with a bad case of athlete's foot who is dragged into conspiracy. Or so it would seem...
The Age of Assassins (殺人狂時代, Kihachi Okamoto, 1967)
A mild-mannered professor is dragged into an international conspiracy in Kihachi Okamoto’s absurdist adventure.

A few lesser-known (in the English-speaking world) Tatsuya Nakadai recommendations:

Willful Murder - Monochrome masterpiece from Kei Kumai starring Nakadai as a reporter exploring the mysterious circumstances surrounding the death of Japan National Railways CEO Sadanori Shimoyama.
Willful Murder (日本の熱い日々 謀殺・下山事件, Kei Kumai, 1981)
A dogged reporter comes to the conclusion an industrialist was murdered but cannot say by whom in Kei Kumai’s searing exploration of the occupation and the economic miracle.

From November 14, Demachiza in Kyoto will host a special retrospective (22 works) dedicated to Itō Takashi. Most of them are available on DVD and on other platforms (but not all), but it's always compelling to see them on the big screen.
Here the trailer (made by Itō himself on "the other place"):

When the Japan film boom in the early 2000s happened many people watched Toshiaki Toyoda's "Pornostar" (or "Tokyo Rampage" in the US) and loved it. Well, he made a new movie and I talked about it.
Toshiaki Toyoda is back with a new feature film: Transcending Dimensions. A fantastic spiritual sci-fi movie with a pinky shaped space ship. Good stuff and a good chance to not just talk about it, but the short movies that led to it.

I really don't understand the complaints. Sure, the movie starts slow, but it builds up and up goes completely crazy at the end and tops that with the silliest bs that I've seen in a long time. I love it.

People complain about this movie having a way too long, boring opening part, but at the same time you get cute, stylish images like this.
