Making things I would've liked as a child.

So, I never talk about this, but I have a kofi. I saw a video saying we should bring back art blogging, so I'm going to try to actually post on it more often.

Today I redesigned Lupa from the illustrated web novel I'm working on.

People are really showing how much they ignored BLM, water protectors, cop city and pro-Palestine protests, or agreed with the military response by municipal police departments, cause the shock at these ICE abduction videos is telling.

“Bypassing” is a promising strategy for countering misinformation by sharing truthful, positively framed statements instead of direct corrections. New research shows it can correct misperceptions effectively, especially when people are still open to learning.

Is There a Better Way to Fight Misinformation?
What if the best way to counter misinformation isn’t arguing facts, but offering better truths instead?

I hate how we are pressured to keep chugging along while everything and everyone is falling apart.

Colonialism and imperialism were genocidal regimes. The reservation system, slavery, mass deportations, lynching, all of this is the script that fascist groups follow when they have power because it has always worked as long as someone could be dehumanized and othered. And no one is safe.

I know I keep saying this, but it is incredible important to understand that the Nazi playbook was US policy. So much of the anti intellectualism has been to erase the fact that the US was on this road before the Germans and is simply reverting to the original horrors that were in motion.
I must say I no longer believe that this is reminiscent of the Nazi playbook, I believe they’re using the Nazi playbook - offshore extermination and concentration camps, targeting people on basis of race and manufactured legality, academic onslaught, media, gender policing it’s all there.

Here’s a list (I don’t think it’s up to date but it’s the most recent I found) of alternatives to Adobe products

It’s too big to get into detail in the alt text so sorry about that!

Our new research shows that giving people quick feedback—just “right” or “wrong”—can significantly improve their ability to spot fake images online. You don’t need a full course to fight misinformation—just a bit of timely feedback goes a long way.

I have seen daily versions of "I can't believe the government could do this to us" posts, news stories, etc. intermingled with demands for solidarity across political, class, racial and gender lines. And uh....none of that is how solidarity actually works.

So much political discourse right now in the US is boiling down to "I didn't believe the bleeding person who told me the wolf at the door was dangerous to me. Because I thought the wolves only hunted them." And I don't know what people think can happen as long as that is still the conversation.

Just commenting to say how it feels the same with my baby brother. Spring break ended and the next morning he tried to beg and bargain not to go. Glad the school year isn't too much longer.
Feels like I’m torturing my child sending her to school. Idk what to do about it…I’m not looking for advice. I’ll take commiseration though.

Rosa Parks needed other people to pay her rent because they just quietly stopped taking her calls

Fannie Lou Hamer had her house regularly challenged for purchase

People are trying to act like Black women specific and people in general aren’t working from historical data as opposed to “emotion”
Do people realize how many Black women ended up broke after sacrificing so much for the civil rights movement?

We don't make a coin from any of it. We go broke. We die broke. Y'all write about it and make millions.

We can no longer be bullied into sacrifice we cannot afford.

read this because it's at the center of a lot of things. I know we want to be liked. I know. But if you were ever bullied at school you know that there is nothing you can do to get your bullies to change their minds about you. so you either beat the crap out of them, become blatantly extra, or both
I of course recognize that the comparison is a bit glib, I just mean -- giving up what people liked about you at the start to appease the people who don't like you *and never will* -- all you do is lose your original customers slash voters slash audience. You give up a lot to gain basically nothing.
