I was honored to do the banner for QLDC this year!
I chose to trace over an official render of Mario in several different styles to represent the boundless creative approaches in remixing a single Mario game. The binary says "Mario" (though it's cut off) and is meant to represent ASM programmers.

I definitely feel like every country is desperately scrambling to dump resources on figuring out how to make GenAI be “something” because they’re terrified that someone else will have the breakthrough first and they’ll be left behind, and it’s become a sunk cost swirl around the drain.
I cannot express how bad this story is for generative AI. OpenAI is burning hundreds of millions of dollars to try and make GPT-5 a meaningful upgrade, and it isn't working. Where does all of this go? How does this result in anything?

Eventually got over the existential dread and got the dopamine hit of hitting the release button on GitHub, so check out the new version 0.6.1 here smwc.me/1643684 (ignore the fact that it's just a couple of minor bug fixes 🤡)
Tfw I haven't touched the Retry System in 9 months and the idea of making changes now fills me with apathy and dread

My half-assed attempt to render this song in SNES form for SMWCentral's Super Famicompo 6 contest, turns out 64KiB is not enough for big voice clips but they're pretty crunchy in the original as well so I guess it kinda works lol

Updated my custom OW paths patch to allow to make Mario go behind "foreground" tiles at will, which is useful for paths crossing bridges and such.
While I've used this trick in the past, it was implemented in a deranged way, to which this is a much more user friendly alternative.
