Everything comes back to paradox - without paradox, no aliveness. Ocean floor meets night sky. No elevator goes down far enough for me. Dogs=life. She/they, queer AND peculiar. Archetypal astrology is my primary language.
Most people in the US don't seem to understand this (and partly I get why that is) so it needs to be REPEATED LOUDLY AND FREQUENTLY.

So deceptively simple. So peaceful. So lovely.
Goodnight.

Look at this gorgeous being! Hummingbirds are a huge favorite and this little snowcap makes me happy.

I find the whole idea of Severance terrifyingly dystopian (to the point that it's not remotely entertaining and I won't be watching) and I still paused for a minute on this and thought, "I might take that deal if it existed." 😖😵‍💫😵
"I'd like you to set the severance device in my brain fully on 'innie' mode for the next four years. I'm willing to work nonstop if it allows me to avoid the panic attacks I get from hearing the news about teenage social media influencers becoming senior government advisors."
An Open Letter to Lumon Industries Requesting to Please Kindly Insert the Severance Device in My Brain and Keep It on “Innie” Mode for the Next Four Years
Dear Mr. Jame Egan, Chief Executive Officer at Lumon Industries, First, I congratulate you on implementing the severance procedure, which successfu...

Today was opening the wrong latch on the big vaccum and dumping the chamber on the front mat, which then I had to vaccum up with the hand vaccum.

Seems like a metaphor of some sort, but I'm too tired and dusty to figure out what it is.

I've been reading & learning and HOLY SHIT THIS IS BAD.

If you were immunized as a child before the 1980s, either get a titer test to check your immunity or just get a booster with the updated vaccines - ask your dr which is best but me, I'm going to be getting the new round.

Christ on a cracker.
In 3 days, the number of measles cases in a highly unvaccinated area of Texas has doubled. There are now 48 cases, all of whom are unvaccinated, and 13 of whom have been hospitalized so far, for a hospitalization rate of 27%. This is huge figure in epidemiology. This outbreak will keep spreading.

Reminder to everyone: if you were born before 1989, there's a good chance you only received one lifetime dose of MMR vaccine. Ask your doctor to check your immunity with a blood test or just give you a booster.

Anyone who's worn an actual bodice should be cheering this.

It doesn't seem fair that when the world is this ACTUALLY DANGEROUS, in real time, the inside of my head is the most dangerous place of all. I'm very cross about that today. 😡

I have really tried to like Harumi Murakami's work. I just...don't.

I read the entirety of The Colorless Tsukuru Tazaki and The Wild Sheep Chase, and while the latter was better, still nope.

The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle freaked me out so I had to stop.

Hard not to wonder if it's me somehow?

I'm not sure why this makes me laugh like a hyena but it does.

Probably I've just been alone in the house for too many days in a row, but seriously, the visual on this was worth the mockery I undoubtedly deserve.
Best thing about waiting to watch DUNE: Part 2 - I just saw Bob Dylan fight Elvis to the death.

I kept thinking this and couldn't put it into words. Also, the mirror image of this is "there's nothing I can do" bc ppl think "do" means "one giant movie-climax action that nukes the bad guys and saves the city" and really it's only the steady, small actions that will save anything.

Just to remind you of how much essential, delightful weirdness life still serves up.
In a sentence never before uttered by humans, I am delighted to share that an alligator stole my conservation instructor’s hat by jauntily walking into the water while wearing it 🐊

Varnishing Spectrum of Stardust this weekend! Always gives me a bit of anxiety to varnish, but now that this painting is an award winner I’m extra nervous 😆

Also this.
Dolly would never. Dolly would take your hand in both hands, say "Honey, I love you just as God made you," and you would tear up about how kind she was without ever knowing how sick of a burn it was she had just laid upon you.
Yes but also imagine dolly parton shaking her head in disappointment at you like she is your most beloved family member looking at a kid who royally messed up.
I would move to a cave in the artic.

Just described Stevie Nicks as "aggressively diaphanous" and you can't tell me I'm wrong about that, when she sings you can 100% hear the scarves

There's really no feeling quite like spending more than your monthly rent on surprise vet bills in the space of 10 days.

But it's for your 11yo rescue with chronic anxiety bc of what was done to him as a puppy so you just can't...not, you know?

Still. My nervous system when she said the number. 😱

This is a pretty important thing to remember. Malicious compliance, plausible deniability, innocent sabotage...these are all tools that people without overt power have been using to resist tyranny (petty to extra-large) for a long time.
Throwing sand in the gears of terrible machinery is also resisting.

Bluesky had bots/trolls/chuds from the beginning. If there's social media, you have assholes and automated accounts. Fortunately, Bluesky's blocking and moderating tools are best in class, so the bots/troll/chuds don't have to be more than a momentary problem.
I worry about what percentage of them are bots.

If you get a reply that's polite-enough but attempting to rebut whatever you said, odds are good it's this kind of bot, sometimes abbreviated as RGaaS (for the name of the network.)

Report them as rahaeli suggests below - it helps Bluesky get them out of here.

Also pls follow @rahaeli.bsky.social
The Reply Guys as a Service network are back out in full force today. Report as "frequently posts unwanted content", and contrary to the instructions in this older thread, you can just put "ChatGPT reply argue bot" in the comments -- the important keyword is "bot".
#BadActorBingo note for the morning: the last few days have seen an increase in accounts that automate "Reply Guys as a service" by pulling random posts and having ChatGPT write a comment that superficially agrees but pivots to trying to start a fight halfway through.
