We have larger concerns heading into 2025, but I can't let go of the idea that the next season of Sesame Street could be its last. So I wrote about why the kids' TV institution is still vital after more than 50 years:
Can You Tell Me How to Get Someone to Save 'Sesame Street'?
With its Warner Bros. Discovery contract about to expire, TV critic Alan Sepinwall explains why the beloved children's series deserves to survive.

As a New Zealander currently overseas, what I really want New Zealanders to know is: Inflation was high everywhere. Skyrocketing unemployment and business closures are a uniquely NZ thing.

The first was due to global economic conditions, the second is a direct result of NZ government policy.

Anyone in Whakatu / Nelson keen to help me set up regular meetups to discuss making a submission / the treaty for tanga Tiriti why it’s critical today & future AoNz - we have the principals bill & Māori wards next year - we need to be nurturing grass roots connections. There is a long game.
Carwyn Jones: It’s critical to submit on the principles bill.

“The proposed Treaty principles bill fundamentally changes the meaning of Te Tiriti, and should be opposed through submissions as well as protest” #nzpol
Carwyn Jones: It's critical to submit on the principles bill | E-Tangata
“It is important that there is strong and visible opposition to the bill so that it is clear to politicians that there is no political advantage in progressing it.” — Carwyn Jones.

Seymour's narrative on his Bill is clever in that he gets to do the classic thing of pretending to be the reasonable one in order to effectively gaslight opponents. "Why don't you want equal rights" etc etc.

You're not "late to the party" when you enjoy an old book for the first time. Books don't have an RSVP deadline. The party started long ago, and guests show up when they're meant to.

Others have noted it but I will too: The big reason Bluesky is so hot right now is that the people who add value to social media - the frequent posters in specific fields - are here now, talking to each other and creating the "spectator value" that draws users and attention.
