And we *may* have the tabletop replica Roman ballista with us (no promises I’m afraid - but I have heard great things about its marshmallow-launching capabilities) #romans #archaeology

This is such a fab way of communicating #archaeology and allowing us to be creative with in the past - “leaning into uncertainty” as a positive thing, as @archaeoplays.bsky.social articulated so well at @scotarchforum.bsky.social a few weeks ago 🏺 #storytelling

Seems all us Scots have either run away north to Orkney/Shetland or started incessantly building bridges up the east coast - sounds all right actually

This was such a great watch! Especially lovely to see the emotional side of our work as archaeologists, remembering that behind every object and place are people and stories - and of course presented brilliantly by #SandiToksvig and @rakshadigs.bsky.social #archaeology

Join #SandiToksvig and @rakshadigs.bsky.social as they explore Iron Age #Dorset in episode 1 of the new #archaeology series #HiddenWonders tonight on #More4 at 9pm

Requiem for a hillfort

Until the 1960s, the outline of Madmarston Iron Age hillfort #Oxfordshire was defined by fieldbanks and hedgerows

Since then it has been sadly obliterated by agriculture ☹️

Stressful day yesterday. One of the smaller, shyer parts of Stonehenge drank too much and got “lost”. We finally found it, looking rather disorientated in this random field 100+ miles away. Now finally been loaded into van ready to be transported home. Everyone tired and emotional but v relieved.
