Just got fired from being a freshman football coach, if you want to know what MAGA does to communities.

They don’t care about what helps people, because the school is certainly not going to find an ex-NFL player willing to coach there at that level, they only care about trying to hurt people.

The NIH shenanigans have real and massive potential consequences for the Indiana economy

Here I and a couple of colleagues highlight this fact

Indirect costs for university-performed research and development were born out of world war II, when the federal government recognized the value of research investment

Indirect costs have always been part of this investment

And pay off- Every $1 in NIH investment yields $2.46 in long term gains

The racists and Nazis are emboldened now. More than before. This will be a pivotal moment in history for who shall have victory (power) here. We get to choose that outcome, my friends.

People we love are counting on us to make history arc in a different direction (for once).

More from inside NIH:

Per a source with knowledge, for all internal research (of which there is like $10 billion worth or so), ALL purchasing shut down as of yesterday.

That means gloves, reagents, anything involved with lab work, which means a lot of that work will stop.

Devastating for scientists and their research, and everyone who benefits from that research.

I’m not sure if everyone outside academia is aware that a delay or “pause” in grant funding often means the researchers themselves are lost from the field, along with their expertise.
NIH appears to have canceled/postponed all of its study sections—the independent review panels that approve federal grants for health research.

Such grants fund the work/salaries of 300k people at more than 2,500 institutions
All NIH study sections canceled indefinitely. This will halt science and devastate research budgets in universities.

This Cybertruck did not crash. It made a heartfelt and perhaps ill-advised gesture that, in the moment, might have been misinterpreted as a crash, but we should not rush to judgement.

Today in Milan, a student activist group hung a trash-filled effigy of Musk upside down on a gate outside of piazzale Loreto, where Mussolini's body was displayed in 1945.
They left the message: "C'è sempre posto a piazzale Loreto, Elon" (There's always room in piazzale Loreto, Elon)

Confirmed: Trump has commuted the sentences of multiple Proud Boys and Oath Keepers involved in Jan. 6, and granted a "full, complete and unconditional pardon to all other individuals."

That’s the quote. I was looking for it. And here it is. Hannah Arendt on the Matt Gaetz as AG announcement
'This process includes the replacement of all first-rate talents, regardless of their political loyalties, with crackpots and fools whose lack of intelligence and creativity is the best guarantee of their loyalty.' This doesn’t feel possible.
We’re still in the 118th Congress in which Gaetz successfully engineered a coup against Speaker Kevin McCarthy, who needed 15 votes to get elected Speaker. THAT WAS THIS CONGRESS.
