There is a book club organization out there emailing authors telling them the club will feature their work for a "modest fee" for "branded materials" etc. Do not fall for this nonsense. You should never, as a writer, have to pay for such things.

Journalists aren't required to regurgitate whatever a spokesperson tells them. Edit it down to what's germane. Don't repeat insults or lies – unless you blow up the lies. It's your news space – don't surrender it to spokespeople. That doesn't make you look "fair" – it makes you look like a tool.
I consume a massive amount of political news. And in every story the reporter contacts the specific Trump admin spokesperson for comment and the response is always a venomous personal insult followed by praise for Trump or a cabinet official. I realize that has always been standard journalistic

Last night's baseball media reminded me of peak Twitter. Such genuine real-time fun, using social & other media to follow a game until 3 in the morning. Almost as good as having done the same with Rob Ford back in those days.

Hey Toronto & GTA, stay safe out there. A bike ride 2 years ago in heat like today caught me off guard with heat exhaustion hard and fast. Felt dizzy, nauseous, clammy, but luckily my friend recognized it and got me to shade to lie down for an hour, drink water. Recognize & know what to do👇 #BikeTO

Today I learned that astronaut Jim Lovell's father was a Canadian who was born in Toronto (he's buried in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, apparently).
I'm almost completely certain that this means that, legally, Jim Lovell was a citizen of Canada (...unless he renounced it).
