today i spent 12 hours doing a job that should be someone else’s job but that position doesn’t exist anymore. i know i have it better than many but it’s stunning to see how quickly things are being dismantled ❤️‍🩹

If I’m understanding this correctly, X is owned by a white nationalist who pays poor people of color in developing countries to pretend to be working class white Americans to scare other white Americans into being afraid poor people of color from developing countries are going to ruin America?

update. i loved frankenstein so much. i’m familiar with mary shelley’s novel and i found guillermo’s del torro’s adaption to be more than a visual treat (as expected). it also felt deeply *sincere* - a strange and strangely beautiful quality that moved me so much. perfect for these times
i’m halfway through and i’m absolutely captivated. so much so that i’m gonna spread it over two nights to savor the fun. (i know, i know - the wild and exciting life that i lead)

this settlement only covers books that were registered with the U.S. Copyright Office - not the millions of other scraped and stolen works - but i’m sharing it here just in case

I found this one! Strange Houses certainly lives up to its name - an outlandish mystery horror story, told through architectural drawings. It’s fun, fast-paced, and very entertaining. Not my usual type of book but I really enjoyed it. Apparently Uketso is a youtube sensation, which makes total sense

can i just say that for someone who likes moody and melancholic stories, writing ridiculously romantic endings brings me a massive amount of joy?

discussion question: will fictional women "who do bad things” continue to be fun & sexy now that real women who "do bad things” are an integral part of authoritarian right-wing governments? will women who “break all the rules” still be subversive now that kindness & empathy are viewed as “woke”?

his ability to meet people where they’re at and collectively turn things around offers a case study in the power of grassroots organizing
A few days after the presidential election one year ago, we went to Fordham Road in the Bronx.

It was a little different last week.

"I Who Have Never Known Men” by Jacqueline Harpman absolutely wrecked me. Beautiful, horrifying, devastating, prescient, haunting, philosophical. 1st published in 1995. New editions have commentary by Carmen Maria Machado and Sophie MacKintosh. HIGHLY recommend but beware 💔
