I’m a pharmacist and can confirm. This happens with medications too, not just vaccines. It’s super duper fucked up. Insurances should not be able to dictate where you receive covered care. Unfortunately, just how providers can be “out of network”, so can pharmacies. Yay America!!!
In a given year 90% of Americans have health insurance and insurance is required to cover the shot. But I saw firsthand today that they will only cover it if you get it at their preferred provider.
A CVS spokesperson has told reporters the updated COVID vaccine will cost around $201.99 for uninsured patients paying out of pocket.
