“These are kids who will never pay taxes," he says. So... are we paying back all the taxes paid by autistic people who have been in the workforce their entire adult lives? Or, alternatively, are we going to make our unelected chainsaw-wielding billionaire plutocrat start paying his share?

This is such a thoughtful and thought-provoking response and I'm so glad she chose to share it. "Your admissions police will impoverish Sweet Briar College, not because you will lose a few visiting artists, but because you will lose those students, and their courage and their imagination."
I'm supposed to be at
Sweet Briar College, where I was so excited to meet with the amazing students, faculty, and staff who organized my visit & made Mobility their Common Read. Hours before my flight I learned about their Board's exclusion of trans & nonbinary people. So now I'm not going.

🚨NEW🚨: Donald Trump is attempting to strip away federal support for libraries. We will NOT let that happen.

Last night the President signed an order to gut the Institute of Museum & Library Services. But together, we know we can show up & defeat it.

The intention to punish entire states with *thousands* of students for the inclusion of a *handful* of students makes a pretty clear statement: the administration doesn't actually care about kids. It's not about kids at all. It's about control.

I can't even fathom being so hateful as to nationally shame AND DOXX a child. As if her moving from 5th place to 1st place is an unreasonable improvement? Given that Libby thinks Nazis are totally okay people, this isn't surprising, but it's still disgusting. www.wmtw.com/article/main...

What parallel universe is Elon living in, seriously. Really shows what kind of parent he is that he doesn't consider human relationships and mentorship as a critical part of education.
I keep telling teachers who think I’m too anti-AI that they have to start looking at it systemically. Maybe stuff like this will get them to wake up.

Why are we still arguing about this. Leavitt's is a Mount Washington Valley landmark. Come on. If it was a billboard, fine, but it's a mural painted by Kennett students. We have so few small businesses thriving in Franchise Valley™; just let them have the art.

I love using Turnitin so I can get flagged for plagiarism for mentioning the names of organizations whose names have been mentioned elsewhere. Really great tool. At least this time it didn't flag every single one of my references as plagiarism because they'd been cited in the same format elsewhere.

As if this story isn't horrific enough, why did WaPo need to deadname them? That sentence could've and should've ended with "some of whom knew Nex by their birth name." Amazing how in a story about transphobia, people can still find room for microaggressions. Do something kind in Nex's memory today.
