As the guy who already reads the rulebook to teach the game, I'm finding this analysis of rulebooks really fascinating so far.
I used to rewrite board game rulebooks as a hobby. I was getting good at it, but something still felt wrong about it.
Then I took grad school classes in technical writing.
And then I started to hate all rulebooks.
And I had to write 90 pages and a new rulebook about it.
First draft is done.

I’ve watched 100s of hours of board game videos and listened to almost that much in podcasts and I can say in the past couple months I’ve seen more people reveal that sometimes it’s hard to learn game rules. Prior there was the impression all it took was a quick flip through the rules.

MAGE KNIGHT help! I’ve watched the videos but anyone have a copy of the directions but not with the background and flourishes? I really struggle to read them for reference and looking at them on an iPad doesn’t work for me either.
