Cities, transportation, climate change, films; watching it all go by. Occasional photos. Lives in Vancouver's West End, a dense walkable place. Walks, rides bike and transit; uses car when it makes sense.
#Whitecaps. Excellent game, stellar defence and well-positioned goal posts.

Riding on #Vancouver Beach Ave. bikeway today. Can't resist these little cityscape pix.

Sylvia and I took a spectacular walk on the seawall today and stopped for this scene.

For those not quickly flipping past, notice the Sylvia Hotel, bikes on Beach Avenue bikeway, palm trees, a crow, the building with the Douglas Coupland paint job and the Laughing Men sculptures.

#Senakw in #Vancouver is nearing the end of the first phase. New rental homes within easy walk or roll of BC's two largest job centres, plus parks, beaches, ocean, shopping. Let's build a lot more.

Lots of people out today enjoying the lovely autumn we're having. Good old #FalseCreekFerries are here at Heritage Harbour being their usual tough reliable selves.

If #Vancouver has a soul, and isn't just a giant real estate Ponzi scheme with mountains and sea, then this is it.

Silliness and whimsey, posted alongside a bracket of choices around Provincial symbols that has pitted the McBarge against Mr. PG, among others.
reasonably sure this is the first time a regional government agency has launched a new service with an elaborate broadway musical parody

I decided long ago that much of what people do and think is not rational. From the stock market to mob behaviour to, now, belief that the government controls the weather.

So I spend very little time talking to people about my thoughts and beliefs.
people who think the gvt controls the weather are a faction that is quickly gaining power on the right — and MTG says she's planning to introduce legislation on this soon

@davidgilbert.bsky.social & i looked at how these conspiracy theories got supercharged after the tx floods this weekend:
Conspiracy Theories About the Texas Floods Lead to Death Threats
Disinformation around a “weather weapon” and cloud seeding is being widely promoted by everyone from anti-government extremists to GOP influencers—leading to real-world consequences.

A wonderful trip to #stanleypark in #Vancouver where I found an early dahlia.

Another #Barge at #Vancouver's Sunset Beach, hauling away a derelict sailboat. I counted 4 boats, 11 people, 2 cranes and a barge. It's always busy on the water there and always fun to watch.

Crews are busy in #StanleyPark paving new ped / bike paths in the Water Supply Tunnel construction area near Chilco/Alberni.

West 10th Ave. in #Vancouver, where emptiness goes to find a friend. Empty storefronts, empty sidewalks and this, where a public garden sits in the empty parking lot of an old Safeway now awaiting redevelopment.

I think Trump will be selling those soon, along with his Immigration Gold Card (a bargain at only $5M).
unless I can buy "guaranteed won't get detained and sent to a concentration camp" vouchers for me and a few million other people that's a no for me dog
Seattle, feeling the pinch from lack of Canadian tourism with border crossings down 50%, have started a tourism campaign where local restaurants/hotels take Canadian dollars at par this weekend for the annual Jays-Mariners series

Dropped in at #jerichobeach Park in #vancouver today on my way to an errand. On this lovely day, I found the dancing tree with willows and walker.

They look normal, they mostly seem normal, but among us walk the totally deluded, whose brains squirm with hatred.

Where, I wonder, do they get it from?
