Why aren't (most) Democrats responding as is required to the hostile takeover of our government? They are presently only hearing from their customers (voters) and not the people who hired them (donors). Corporate America is so far quiet about the coup. Want Dems to step up? Pressure their donors.

Sat in the immunotherapy infusion chair yesterday, after Dr said I responded very well to 4 months of chemo, now in the rear view. I argued he didn't see how dark it was in the privacy of my own mind. When you have your health, your desires are free to roam. When you don't, health is all you want!

Yes, libraries are invaluable for their collections and public services they offer, but also social contact without the expectation to interact with anyone or spend any money is so important to so many people

Faced-out books and books on table display sell about twice as fast as spine-out books. And books that are selling get reordered, and keep getting faced out. So even just three preorders translates to organic momentum surprisingly quickly.

The thing about pre-orders: If you pre-order thru an indie bookstore (which generally doesn't cost you up-front!) it is HUGE for the lifeblood of the book, it is a boost to authors, the publisher, and the booksellers who steward this life. It's a little thing but it's meaningful should this inspire!

“Yesterday I visited my son's school and I saw a bright colored bench in the yard. I asked if it was new.

He said to me, ′′no, that's the ‘friend’s bench.’ When someone is down, they'll sit there so others find them."

To me, that’s how finding Bluesky feels.

The final piece of advice I would like to give to new folks tonight is that Bluesky will be what you make of it. When I came over from the former Twitter, I resolved to be more kind to others here than I was over there. That choice has made being here so much better. Keep it in mind for yourself.

Also, quoting a post is usually not used for dunking here.
Finally, use block as liberally as you feel the need. There are some good curated block lists that will remove people from your feed before you know they are here.

Just a quick note to those new here, if you think someone's post is worth other people reading, repost it. Liking it does not have the same effect here as on the dead-bird site. There is no algorithm. That's one of the reasons we like it.

This is a possible future Lions Led By Donkeys episode. It has potential for a "shitting themselves to death in a field" theme. It just needs the "greater unifying theory of fuck that guy", which I'm sure will come.
