I am deeply honored to receive the @eswinfluenza.bsky.social best young scientist award. Of course, this would not have been possible without the support of my mentors, collaboration partners, and colleagues. Thank you all; I am deeply grateful! Let's continue doing great science together!

Human MxA suppresses replication of HPAI isolated from mammals in vitro and in MxA-transgenic mice. But, H5N1 can evade via replacement of individual viral polymerase complex components.

We are pleased to be able to make our scientific contribution to the understanding of H5N1 viruses. In a study that will be published soon @Emerging infectious diseases, we investigated restriction of clade 2.3.4.4b H5N1 viruses by the human innate immune factor MxA.

(MB)
For anyone downplaying the threat of #H5N1, just look at Canada.

A teenager remains in critical condition nearly a month after falling ill, with the source still unknown.

This highlights the urgent need to scale up testing in both humans and animals.
