Horrible. This is one of the most special hikes I’ve ever done in a country filled with treasures.

I've canceled spotify. I don't know why I had any faith that some businesses and services might not willfully support this madness. #wrongagain I'm running out of places to buy stuff, which I guess isn't a terrible thing. I'm saving money! www.the-express.com/entertainmen...

Ezra Klein - hey ladies can you die for democracy please? Especially poor rural women of color, cause, ya know, you’re kinda expendable. Hard pass, dude.

New from me:

There's a lot of misinformation around the reasons I was fired from WaPo.

Here's the official termination letter I got sent by Washington Post.

We are at the point in the honoring-Charlie-Kirk's-memory cycle when faculty are being fired for posting, without comment, Charlie Kirk's words. At the behest of politicians sworn to uphold the first amendment, and in public institutions covered by first amendment protections.

This is today’s @nytimes.com front page. WTEF. Later in the middle of the piece, the article notes that Cox “did not … offer details to substantiate his views.” SO WHY ARE THEY THE HEADLINE?

Noem v. Perdomo clearly shows that SCOTUS's whole "colorblind" thing is subterfuge for pure racism. Hey John "the way to stop discrimination on the basis of race is to stop discriminating on the basis of race" Roberts -- your legacy will be as tainted as Taney's. And deservedly so. Disgusted.

I am so beyond tired of capitulation. Screw this so damn hard. Maybe people should just, I dunno, read?
It would be a huge step forward for Democrats and for general clarity in political writing if these terms went away. These came mostly from academic hothouses.

Color me surprised. Many women complained about Brian Kohberger and nothing was done. When will universities listen to us? I know litigation isn't often a solution but I hope some enterprising lawyer kicks the 💩 out of the administrators who ignored these warnings. www.cnn.com/2025/08/19/u...

I'm sorry, nine HUNDRED former DOJ lawyers all signed this letter opposing Emil Bove's nomination to be an appellate federal judge?

Since April 4, #SCOTUS has issued 15 rulings on 17 emergency applications filed by Trump (three birthright citizenship apps were consolidated).

It has granted relief to Trump ... in all 15 rulings.

It has written majority opinions in only 3.

Today's order is the 7th with no explanation *at all.*
Here we go again: Over an acerbic dissenting opinion by Justice Sotomayor (joined in full by Justices Kagan and Jackson), #SCOTUS, with no explanation, grants a stay in the Department of Education RIFs case—effectively clearing the way for the Trump administration to dismantle much of the agency:
