•You’re not a writer if you’re not published
•You’re not a writer if you don’t write every day
•You’re not a writer if you don’t outline

No, you ARE a writer—even if the only thing you have written this month is a grocery list.
You have a story to tell. Persist!

What is a small thing you can do for yourself today, to make it a good day?

For me, I am taking a moment to be creative.

How do you write when the world is burning?
Passionately and compassionately. Onward.

A stop to federal funding puts refugees in limbo.

Here, in WI, we have people working hard to make a difference. Please consider supporting the work of Hanna Refugee Relief Group 🙏🏼

2nd book of 2025.
I thought I’d learn something about history.

I am. But it’s also hitting close to current events. 👀

A poem by Mary Oliver has been rattling around in my heart and head for the past week.

“Here is a story
to break your heart.
Are you willing? . . .

I mean that it break open and never close again
to the rest of the world.”

Artists, the world needs you now more than ever.

This. Exactly.
The tyranny of the urgent keeps my brain from being about to concentrate on the important.
It really sucks that all I want to do right now is write literary criticism and read January releases, but American politics are making it reeeally hard to focus on anything else.

And yeah, the trite thing to say is like, “well durr just read them anyway” and it’s like. My brain is a hissy cat.
