Interesting perspective on the DECAF trial. Don‘t tell your newly diagnosed afib patients to stop drinking coffee must be the only take-away!

#cardiosky #afib
Sorry @erictopol.bsky.social it doesn't. All participants were normal coffee drinkers. Therefore, the coffee-drinker arm is the Control arm. The intervention of going cold turkey increased the hazard of AF by 64% (100/0.61). The whole report is written from the wrong perspective.

📈A study of 96 patients using a new biodegradable #PFO closure device shows no deaths, no device-related embolism/thrombus/erosion, and full degradation of the device by year two.

Researchers tracked patients for two years, using echocardiography to confirm the devices had completely vanished. Additional studies will still be required.

Great thread on pre-TAVI-CT. #cardiosky
We’re doing CT before most TAVRs, but we’re only cashing in on the “planning” part. This review argues we should be squeezing the rest of the dataset for prognosis and longitudinal care.

Wow - the PROCTOR trial comes as a surprise. We've been doing complex native vessel PCIs, thinking it was the better way until now. Best, of course, is BIMA and no SVGs at all to start off with. #cardiosky
