I was honored to join state legislators and community members this AM at a press conference for the Conditions of Confinement package.

When the government holds human beings in jails and prisons, it is imperative that they are treated with dignity and humanity for as long as they are in custody.

Why are Dems in Congress such cowards?

Great news! The first step on the road to saving MCTS Route 28 has been cleared.

My amendment to save Route 28 passed the Finance committee 5-2, and now heads to the full Board.

Had a great time planting some trees with Friends of LaFollette Park this morning. Hazel was a good helper too!

Milwaukee County has an extremely challenging budget cycle coming up, and your voice is critical in the process.

Join neighbors in sharing your top priorities at my County Budget Town Hall on Tuesday, October 7 at the West Allis Public Library.

I hope to see you there!

Too many guns, too little empathy, and far, far too much violence. Enough!

This #LaborDay I marched in solidarity with ATU Local 998 as they fight for a fair contract with MCTS.

I say this in no uncertain terms, Mr Vice President: we don’t want troops in Milwaukee County. Your administration’s fascist cosplay routine is not welcome here.

The thing about Taylor Swift getting engaged is that POTUS is sending the military to American cities against their will.

I mean, Travis Kelce seems like a good dude but on the other hand masked men are kidnapping people off the street and not even telling their families where they are being taken.

Great turnout at the County Budget Listening Session at Washington Park.

Stagnant revenues and rising costs mean it’s going to be a tough year for a lot of important priorities. It’s more important than ever that we hear directly from you on what you can’t live without!

Neighbors: you only have 2 more days to enjoy McCarty Park Pool this summer. The last day of operations for 2025 is this Sunday, August 17th.

Cool Waters will be open through September 1, but McCarty will not. Enjoy it while you can - hopefully the storms miss us so we can go out with a splash.

Milwaukee County has implemented a landing page that puts together various resources available to residents and businesses in light of last weekend's storms. Your municipality may have additional resources available as well.

My heart goes out to all of you who have been affected by this weekend’s flooding. My basement had inches of water, but I’m hearing reports of far worse damage for many in our community.

Don’t travel if you don’t need to, and please take this time to help out a family member or neighbor if you can

These smiles brought to you by Milwaukee County Pools.

What part of “with liberty and justice for all” do these fascists worshipping at the altar of Trump not understand?

I want to thank Governor Tony Evers for his decades of public service and for making the difficult decision to pass on running for a third term.

I look forward to a robust Democratic Primary for Governor in 2026.

Conventional wisdom says that a mediocre incumbent gives you a better chance of winning a general election than a very good primary candidate.

Conventional wisdom is wrong. In this political environment, it’s the side that best turns out their base that wins the election.

I was proud to join my friend Robyn Vining this afternoon as she announced her campaign for State Senate. I can’t wait to have her as my Senator!

She is a champion for our kids. Public education, mental health, nutrition, childcare, gun reform - she’s on the right side of every issue that matters.

Good news and the Milwaukee County Transit System have not gone together very often lately. Thankfully, today is a very big exception.

Na zdrowie! The Traveling Beer Garden at McCarty Park is officially open. Come enjoy beer, food, soda, and polka while supporting Milwaukee County Parks!

Today I choose to be defiantly joyful. Tomorrow we continue the fight for a better, more inclusive America.

It’s been a bad week in a bad year in a bad decade for democracy.

But this right here - this is why I will never stop fighting for better.

I respect my colleagues' intentions in seeking to recoup fares from those who may be riding the bus without paying. They, like me, are just trying to keep MCTS solvent while maintaining as high a level of service as possible under the severe fiscal restraints we are under as a county.

Senator Ron Johnson cast what was ultimately the deciding vote in favor of Trump’s extreme, cruel, reckless budget bill today, after claiming for weeks he would not support it.

Going back on promises is kind of his thing, and Wisconsin deserves far better.
