In one statement, Israel’s military admitted its forces shot and killed a Palestinian man it alleges crossed the yellow line and so posed an “imminent threat” to soldiers operating near Khan Younis. 2. In a separate statement today, the IDF says troops near Rafah “dismantling underground infrastructure” reported four armed Palestinians on the eastern side of the yellow line, inside the zone Israel controls. The military says it immediately struck and killed three of them, despite the ceasefire. Some 200 Hamas fighters are reported to be trapped east of the line, and Israel has so far refused safe passage. 3. Al Jazeera also reported one more person killed earlier when Israeli forces opened fire in northern Gaza’s Jabalia. Important: The yellow line is not physically marked in most of Gaza. BBC reporting found that where markers do exist, Israel had placed them hundreds of meters past the agreed withdrawal line — and shot and murdered civilians hundreds of meters from the agreed line, claiming later that unarmed Palestinians “crossed” it and therefore “threatened” Israeli troops.
