This Labour Day, Aotearoa, try to live up to the dignified and respectable example of those worthy workers who first banded together in 1840 and politely requested to work only an 8-hour day.

Then threw anyone who crossed the line into the harbour

Labour Day, a public holiday in New Zealand since 1900, is a suitable occasion to pay tribute to Samuel Parnell, who achieved fame as the founder of the eight-hour working day in New Zealand.

At this point conditional breakpoints aren't supported in version 26.0 and later due to necessary changes in the platform. We're investigating this issue and will update the documentation accordingly.

I guess I'll have to also make a business informed choice not to buy the game until it includes the DLCs for free.

On our 2nd day in New Zealand we came to the library and got library cards for all 4 of us. It was then and until closure a warm safe space in the city, where we would stop and unwind (and load up on books). I missed it and will be happy when it is back!
GREAT NEWS! Our wonderful library, Te Matapihi, has reached a huge milestone with construction work now finally finished. On time and on budget. It'll re-open in March 2026. For me, this marks an exciting future for Wellington where we'll start to see parts of our city open back up again. #nzpol

The fact that the thing we're calling artificial intelligence *can't do math* and yet we're jamming it into programs that successfully *have done math* for decades, then warning people against using the AI to do math, seems like an excellent summary of where we are.
Good thing no one uses Microsoft Excel for anything related to legal, regulatory or compliance business functions

If you go to check your enrolment on vote.nz and find that the website claims you are not enrolled: before you freak out, delete the "city" and "postcode" optional fields and try again

Autocollete broke this for me

It's bad website UX, but not evidence of fuckery

Idk but it feels like JuCo claiming the reason the penalties for TPM were so extraordinarily severe was that it was argued they could have intimidated MPs in their votes, when in fact the votes had already been recorded, should be a fucking big deal.

Bernard Hickey: The Govt’s retrospective law wrecks 33 pay equity deals. $17 billion in wages & back-pay will not now go to over 150,000 workers. That means the $14 billion of tax cuts going mostly to landlords & highest earners are being paid for by wage cuts for the poorest NZers, mostly women.

One last LLM AI post. For the night In general, history has not been kind to people who have argued some variation on, “ignoring the moral dimension for a moment, lets talk about the utility of (X).” It’s frequently not an immediate kind of judgment, but it is an inexorable one.
