Some people seem confused about why I refer to Dems as 'other'. They assume it means I'm Republican, I'm not. Both parties belong to the oligarchy, the only appropriate option is to align with neither. If you're a member of either party, you're willfully a part of the Culture War dividing the US.

Kind of unsettled about all the glorification of Gavin Newsom and demands that he run for POTUS. Those of us who had him for governor know his failings, and there are MANY. Sure he's charismatic and good-looking, but he's VERY moderate and practically anti-LGBT. Not good for Cali, not good for USA.

We all got a lot more exercise because there was no such thing as Amazon, DoorDash or InstaCart, and if you wanted some information there probably wasn't a phone line or website to get it, you often had to go there in-person.
You didn't have to wonder nearly so much if the "fact" or recipe you looked up in a book or encyclopedia was really true - at worst it was outdated, not malicious.

Whew. My booru system was down for like nearly 2 weeks... I was worried the SSD for the root filesystem died and went read-only forever, but apparently it was just fsck.ext4 hadn't been run in too long. Super easy fix, now it's back up and running! 2 weeks of posts to catch-up on, though, woof.

I have a coworker who is driving me crazy. He gets madly jealous every time I deliver a big new feature and says “why wasn’t I asked to do that work? I’m way more experienced!” No, you’re not, and you weren’t asked to do it because I wasn’t asked to do it, I asked if I could. Jebus.

So I got this email from Lovense, for a special birthday discount. Went to the site via the link in the email, the price is suspiciously "normal". So I add to cart and see bday discount is applied. Open Incognito browser, check price in cart, it's the same (normal) price. WTF guys? Smells like scam.

So many people in North America have zero clue what's happening in Asia Major. Two of my brothers live there and are economic and policy experts, do not throw shade at me about my knowledge of Asian affairs and expect to not get blocked. If you don't know, just keep your mouth shut.

My brother was visiting for the last 2.5 weeks, and that completely swallowed up my free time. He went back home yesterday, and today feels like SUCH a relief to be able to just relax and laze through my day and ACTUALLY REST. Nice to see family, but also nice when they're gone again.

The dept of the Federal gov't I'm in and working for has budget through the end of November, so I'm okay for another month... but most other depts and agencies aren't so lucky.
Really hoping GOP removes heads from asses soon. Before calamity strikes.

So, I don't know if I can say which departments are closing after tomorrow in the Federal gov't... but it's a LOT of them. Which do critical work for the country. Including keeping planes in the air and cars on the roads. Tomorrow's the last day for their employees until a budget is passed...

I don't believe the people who come onto social media claiming their life is amazing and everything is awesome and they are so blessed.
Because if that were true, you wouldn't be on here seeking validation for it, you'd be too busy living and enjoying it.

Dove to the bottom of The Blue Hole today - 62 feet. Tied for my deepest dive to date. Was nice to get back in the water diving again, all my gear still works, and 2mm wetsuit was enough to keep me warm in 61 degree water for an hour. Need to work on breathing and trim again.

Kind of hilarious to see on the european sex toys sites how the base prices jump 30% when you say you need shipping to the US. I mean hilarious in a bad nightmare terror way, thanks Trump for making things we can't get in the US completely unaffordable.
