Checking in here has me like

Is this the real life?
Is this just fantasy?
Took my fioricet
Don’t know what is reality

MTG? Oval Office meeting? Catholic raves? I could write a parody We Didn’t Start The Fire from the timeline today. (Bc migraine meds make me a little amusing, no real skills)

It's really difficult to get a handle on the prevalence of AAN because...well for people in larger bodies, doctors praise any weight loss to the skies.

No matter how it's achieved.

No matter how much it might harm their health otherwise.

I live on stolen Indigenous land and a former Civil War battlefield. I don’t believe in ghosts, but the veil seems thin sometimes. And I may, while gardening, catch myself having a quick word with the people who grew things here before me.
do you believe in ghosts or are you like me, a person who finds themself saying all the time “I absolutely don’t believe in ghosts, but this place has ghosts.”

Not so sure about how healthy they are making Americans- after reading this I’m experiencing a possible hypertensive crisis, nausea, and an eye twitch.
There's an exclusive, closed-to-media MAHA summit tomorrow. Here's the full agenda I was leaked

In attendance will be JD Vance, RFK Jr, Bhattacharya, Makary, actor Russell Brand (who is facing rape and sexual assault charges), and dozens of other MAHA influencers and people in Trump's orbit

I’m glad I survived, but I’m also painfully aware that my privilege played a role.

That having universal healthcare saved me

Not everyone is so lucky and no one “deserves” to suffer.

That millions of Americans will suffer and some will die because the Dems refused to hold the line.

If I had to pay medical bills on top of spending a year off work and having to hire caregiver support, I would have been bankrupt.

We must stop blaming people for becoming ill.

Stop blaming people for not having support.

Stop blaming people for being homeless.

NEW RESEARCH

Americans who embrace Christian nationalism more likely to agree situation f/ people with disabilities is good as it is, disabled people demand too much from rest of society, & there have been enough societal efforts in favor of people w/ disabilities.

Years ago I read an op-ed about a VA gubernatorial race that described it as words to the effect of “not coming down to the lesser of two evils, but the evil of two lessers” and if that hasn’t pretty much always been VA politics in a nutshell I don’t know what is.
Abigail Spanberger takes a swipe at Mamdani, saying "maybe he should be a Democrat" and that his campaign promises are dishonest.

5pm on November 1: let’s go for a walk, it’s still light out!

5pm on November 2: an early darkness blankets the land. Fallow fields lay bone-bleached by moonlight. The last memories of summer fade into oblivion. The last echoes of hope lapse into baleful silence.

Why on Earth are we still doing this in 2025? It was harmful in health class in the 1980’s, it is harmful now AND we *should* know better.
Gotta say, there's never been a *good* time for assignments that require students to track their weight and calorie intake, but right when rates of food insecurity are going through the roof is definitely one of the worst times for it 👀

All of this to everyone except my neighbor who keeps posting “coyote alerts” in the neighborhood online group, because I guess they think woodland creatures shouldn’t be in the woods behind our suburban houses.

Nobody appointed you the coyote police, my guy.
Congratulations, M-F friends! You made it over the Hump.

Enjoy the evening off and prepare to coast through Thursday.

For those with non-standard work-weeks, stay strong!

I keep reminding my friends that civil rights activists in the US not only worked toward goals they knew wouldn't be achieved in their lifetimes, but felt hopeful enough about the future to have kids who'd grow up in it.

None of us are going to be doing the last part, but we can sure do the first.
