MPs and peers could be forced to submit to criminal record checks under proposals submitted by a new Labour MP

Many local authorities already run DBS checks on elected officials but it's not standard practice in parliament

#BritishJournalismAwards is simply taking the piss. Kuenssberg is not forensic at all, and she is only determined to embarrass labour politicians and routinely lets Tory politicians off the hook
Winner of Interviewer of the Year is Laura Kuenssberg of the BBC - judges said she is “forensic, politely determined and never lets her subject off the hook” #BritishJournalismAwards

What #Starmer actually said:

"There's currently no case for rejoining the #EU, so #Labour will focus on making #Brexit work better". The operative word is CURRENTLY!

How can Brexit be better without rejoining the EU, Single Market or Customs Union? Closer alignment. It's implied!

Bloody sick of the ‘red line’ shtick. Where’s it ever got us?
Up shit creek. Announcing over and over again that we’d rather keep our broken paddles, thank you very much.
I know so much of it is for Daily Mail England. But ffs. Can’t we change the record now?

If it takes 10 years to rejoin the EU, then if we start today, we'll be back in 10 years. But if we wait a decade, it will take 20 years.

Except that it won't, because we will have had 10 more years of diverging. So it might take a quarter of a century.

Start today please. We owe it to the future.

Labour published a new 48-page "Plan for Change".

It doesn't mention Brexit in the list of challenges facing the UK.

Indeed it doesn't mention the EU at all, except in one sentence in the National Security section.

It's a deeply cynical document that promises transparency but delivers a cover-up.

Or…

Expect 1 term that ends in handing power of this country to a foreign billionaire proxy PM and his little puppet

I remember during the Brexit referendum that leading Brexiteers *insisted* that they were not isolationists and little Englanders.

They *were* team players, but it was just the EU was wrong.

But then they wanted out of Single Market… then ECHR…

…and now UN and ICC too.

They are not team players.
