My two first author papers from a postdoctoral period at @stanfordpntlab.bsky.social are online 🥳! Check them out if you're interested in mapping excitability of the prefrontal cortex and reliability of these signals 🧠⚡

1/10 🧠 We need better ways to measure brain excitability in psychiatric disorders. The prefrontal cortex—key target for brain stimulation treatments—is particularly hard to assess. Our new studies tackle this with systematic mapping! bit.ly/4cjHknX & bit.ly/3PW8RCx

New preprint out! We mapped somatosensory representations in healthy individuals using navigated TMS and fMRI. 👋🧠⚡️

We found:
1. Significant variability in S1 hotspot locations in both methods
2. Discrepancies between TMS & fMRI mapping locations
3. Larger variability in fMRI across subjects

@hs.fi haastatteli meikäläistä masennuksen rTMS-hoitoihin kertovassa jutussa: www.hs.fi/tiede/art-20...

In Eng: "NY Times of Finland" (Helsingin Sanomat) interviewed me about rTMS treatments for depression.

Masennus | Aivojen magneettistimulaatio voi auttaa masennukseen jo viikossa – ”Kuin olisi eri ihminen”
Aivojen aktivointi magneettipulsseilla voi lievittää masennusta. Hoitoa voi saada, jos lääkkeet eivät auta. ”Olo on valoisampi”, sanoo hoitoa kokeillut.

🧠 NEW PAPER: How do we capture excitability noninvasively in mood and emotion networks in the human brain? Here, we used real-time optimization to improve these measures!

Test-retest reliability of TMS-evoked potentials over fMRI-based definitions of non-motor cortical targets
Objective: This study assessed the test-retest reliability of TMS evoked potentials (TEPs) across two cortical regions: dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (DLPFC), and angular gyrus in comparison to motor...
