on a cdc dataset page, there's a slug in the url like `k62p-6esq` in

data.cdc.gov/Disability-Health/Disability-and-Health-Data-System-DHDS-/k62p-6esq/about_data

and if you plop that onto this URL

dev.socrata.com/foundry/data.cdc.gov/

you get a page with "Export dataset as CSV" in a sidebar

Today, I woke up to my neighbor having used his snowblower to clean the sidewalks of the entire block; I ate a breakfast of homemade granola from one friend; My husband’s breakfast included homemade kimchi from another friend. Even on difficult days, there are opportunities to appreciate joy.

As 2025 begins, a thread of a few 2024 pieces I'm proud of!

For Esquire, I spent months reporting a long feature about college RA work conditions, unionization, & what happens when being a student and being an RA feel at odds. RAs shared so much about mental health, scope of work, protests, & more.
The Secret Crisis Affecting College RAs
The stakes of the job are higher than ever—and so is the toll it takes. RAs across the country tell Esquire about their fight to reimagine their role and how it might change college life for everyone.

I would like to speak up today for the trans community.

You see, I know a bit of what it’s like to be politically scapegoated. When Japan attacked Pearl Harbor in 1941, suddenly anyone in America who had any amount of Japanese ancestry became suspect. Politicians preyed upon ignorance and fear. /1
