Fields medalist thinks that AI might surpass mathematicians in 10 years!
9/ Around 20 years ago, Borcherds witnessed chess engines surpass the strongest chess players over several years, despite claims that this was impossible. In a similar vein, he predicted AIs would surpass human mathematicians in roughly 10 years, with substantial uncertainty.
