Slop/reddit is a great catch all term for people (letterbox users,RPG fans,comic fans) who hate things that might appeal to mainstream audiences but don’t want to actually articulate or analyze it or otherwise meaningfully engage with a thing so they can maintain ironic detachment

If you've ever worked in anime localization/dubbing then you would know that the client needs to be aware of EVERY decision by the studio. They have final say on everything; even casting choices. Amazon doing this without their knowledge is HUGE. At the very least it would endanger their license.
