This week in the Benefice I've been reflecting on Sabbath rest, a topic that may seem bland but has been pivotal to my recovery over the past 12 months. As the bench I was sat on whilst filming this says: 'Rest and be Thankful'.

Up in Manchester for my 2nd conference photography gig of the month and I have to say I am loving the little nod to our conference that the college's library has prepared.

Final preparations before my beautiful incredible wife ( @hedgehiggin.bsky.social ) finally gets ordained and inducted as minister of her first church.

When we met 5 years (and 12 days) ago she turned up for her first day of ministerial training as I started my undergrad degree. 1/3

On this feast of St Francis of Assisi, we pray for Franciscan communities around the world, and for those gathered for the Franciscan weekend at Hilfield Friary. Check out their programme for other retreats this autumn - www.hilfieldfriary.org.uk/programme/ #retreat @monknunanglican.bsky.social

Praying for Bishop Sarah as she prepares to preside over the See of Canterbury. I had the pleasure of spending a day with her when I was at sixth form, and what sticks with me is her wisdom and grace, two attributes that are desperately needed as the church moves on from recent scandals and debates.

Come and hang out with a friendly group of keen amateur theologians made up of trans people and allies for some trans-centred theological discussion and casual fellowship.

SCM’s Trans Theology Group is an enthusiastic group of trans students and recent graduates together with trans allies. 1/2

Well our first anniversary has been a bit of a mixed bag....

Lovely day with Amanda visiting a National Trust site, spending time in nature, eating chocolate strawberries...

Have also broken my crown (not related to chocolate strawberries or the National Trust)

Back from the Bonhoeffer Pilgrimage - exhausted but exceptionally grateful.

I'll write up my reflections on my time in Germany properly in due course but for now I'll share a reflection I shared earlier in the week:

Well, when I voted for the current Labour leadership in 2020 I didn't expect to quitting the party under it, certainly not after a landslide election win that I had worked so hard on, but I won't compromise on trans rights and it breaks my heart that it's a Labour government that has. 1/2

I'm still not sure how to respond to this album, but I have a weird feeling I may be sent a copy of it in the post randomly one day 😭
Can't believe I'm having to introduce my friend to Pope Francis' prog rock album for the first time.

What do you mean people don't know about Pope Francis' prog rock album???

This Tuesday I am leading @scmbritain.bsky.social 's Trans Theology Group in a discussion on how the life and ministry of St James the Great can lead us to find hope in imperfection.

The group is for those students who identify as trans, non-binary or intersex or are Trans allies.

I am very quickly becoming obsessed by this neighborhood cat. She is so chaotic and her first concern is always "cuddles?'
We were visited by a neighbourhood cat today who was ABSOLUTELY CERTAIN that she should be allowed in our house (Christmas lunch smells I suppose) and well now I want a cat

Merry Christmas!

To all my queer friends out there who may be spending time with family who are not affirming, I pray you know the Father's love, are comforted by the Son, and protected from harm by the Holy Spirit. You are awesome in all of your queer and wonderful ways and God delights in you. 🌈

New personal record alert! I managed to visit 2 cathedral's and an abbey in the space of 4 days.

(Gloucester Cathedral, Bath Abbey and Llandaff Cathedral for anyone interested)

And yes, by request of my Grandma, I now have a note on my phone where I am ranking the cathedrals and abbey...

I know we are now halfway through advent, however if there are any folks out there who usually observe periods of reflective reading during advent and who haven't yet found a book, can I highly recommend to you "Do Not Be Afraid" by @revrachelmann.bsky.social. 1/2

Today is Trans* Day of Remembrance, when we remember how transgender and gender diverse people disproportionately suffer violence. The annual Trans Murder Project report lists 350 trans* individuals who have been killed in the last year. 94% of victims were women/feminine.

We will remember them 🏳️‍⚧️🕊️
