Dunne added, “The players demand so much, and dig into when you make a mistake, however on the flip side, when you do something good, they motivate you and try to get more from you, without a doubt training and playing with more experienced players, makes yourself a better player.”

Archie also spoke on the importance of learning from the players around him, notably Sam Ford. Having come through the West Ham academy, with trials at Birmingham City, Ford has experienced the day-to-day life of being a professional and is a key figure in the development of young players.

Speaking on the transformation from youth football to first-team football, he said: “Straight away the intensity of the training, much more structured sessions and more serious staff/managers and overall, a lot harder than my previous age group.”
