Holy shit, just learned about the typewriter art of Montserrat Alberich Escardívol, a Catalan typist. Using an extra wide typewriter and 180 color ribbons, she built up elaborate images from simple characters like 'm' and '.' and ';'. Here is her typewritten painting of the Cathedral of Barcelona.

Dashiell Hammett's The Thin Man is going into the public domain on January 1st in case anyone wants to make a horror film about an adorably drunk couple and their dog chasing, like, a killer clown or something.

I wish someone would reorganize my pell-mell & ontologically upsetting silverware drawer
Watched my brother’s family’s pups this weekend & reorganized their pell-mell & ontologically upsetting silverware drawer (little forks no longer in the same slot as big forks, jam spoons disassociated from teaspoons) & I didn’t say anything & just got a text from my brother that reads, “🙄.”

If you’re wondering what a “least weasel” is, they absolutely live up to the name. This is the least amount of animal you can have that can still meet the bar for “is weasel”

Acrylic on Canvas - 9 ½” x 7”

With leaves starting to fall and temperatures cooling, the color patterns on this scrap of canvas shifted me right into the Halloween spirit. 1/2

"Lilith in the Valley of a Thousand Sculptures"
Mixed media: coffee, graphite, and gold leaf on Arches paper.

The first piece to surface from the Labyrinth.

In pale marble, she carves a tree.
The Golden Serpent coils nearby — patient, watchful.

Do you ever feel in over your head about eels?

Well...sometimes it's the eels that are over your head! The Long Room at the Customs House at the Exeter Quay features a ceiling plaster decoration made by John Abbot in c.1680. And what is lurking among the leave?

Yup: eels! 1/2

I have become extremely suspicious of demands to boycott any publishing platform. It's always the most successful ones (Twitter, Amazon, Substack) and the effect is to push writers into marginalizing and silencing themselves
The *vast* majority of sales come through Amazon. And when readers boycott Amazon, they don't in general shift to buying indie books elsewhere. They simply stop buying indie books.

I detest Amazon, but as a self-published author, I simply cannot have a career without publishing there.
