A paper in Nature Energy reports on a flow reactor that produces syngas (a mixture of CO and H2) through on-site utilization of air-captured CO2 using light. 🧪
Direct air capture of CO2 for solar fuel production in flow - Nature Energy
Photocatalytic conversion of CO2 typically uses concentrated feeds, hindering the direct conversion of ambient CO2 to value-added products. Kar et al. report a flow reactor that produces syngas (a mixture of CO and H2) through on-site utilization of air-captured CO2 using light.

Most protein complexes are born only once. V-ATPase assembles over and over as part of its regulatory mechanism, enabled by RAVE (regulator of ATPase of vacuoles and endosomes)
@hanlinw222.bsky.social's 1st struct of RAVE bound to a partial V1 complex now out in PNAS.

Here is a direct visualization of DNA loop extrusion under buffer flow. We found that Wadjet extrudes DNA as a dimer, and LE is inhibited when dimerization is disrupted.

Breaking news!

November, 2024, came in at the second warmest in recorded history, at 1.62°C above the pre-industrial baseline.

Starting in June, 2023, there have now been 18 consecutive months above the pre-2023 record high, likely the hottest string of 18 months in the last 120,000+ years.

I often show my students this visualization of how atmospheric CO₂ travels around the globe. Our attitude toward burning fossil fuels would change significantly if we could actually see CO₂.
