The death of browsing is part of the reason art is the way it is now. Our opinions are largely fed to us by algorithms. Spending a spare 15 minutes wandering around a bookstore or comic shop or video rental place was how you found stuff you wouldn't ordinarily pick up and thereby expanded your taste
Bookselling is like the most "people go to the store and buy what looks cool to them without a particular agenda" type business left, and your purchases have a huge influence on what is ordered, what is displayed, and what is recommended.

Theme Hospital.

Nothing has surpassed this in my view.

It needs to have the same low-res graphics, cheesy music, dark humour, and sheer silliness.

A reminder that teaching literature will always be important.

“They were careless people…they smashed up things and creatures and then retreated back into their money or their vast carelessness, or whatever it was that kept them together, and let other people clean up the mess they had made.”

Exactly the same.

Don't feel comfortable passing on details, so I'm limited in what I can see. Definitely a sense of FOMO but I also feel in control (a bit, at least)
Update on this - no, I won't be giving BlueSky a picture of my ID, any part of my social security number, or my credit card information. I've got enough portals for people to reach me.

If you've sent me a DM I cannot see it.

Also watch how you talk to me because apparently I am a child.

Just a little write up of my summer research project!

I'm very excited to be building this into something for publication in the future.

Calling English a 'rip-off degree' is one of the most blatant exhibitions of personal barbarism I've ever seen. You've demonstrated nothing but the poverty of your own mind.
