Today’s matinee jaunt: In Dealer's Choice at @donmarwarehouse.bsky.social is anyone able to break free of their compulsions..? Hammed Animashaun in particular lights things up in this revival. Very 90s masculine
posturing! ♥️♦️♠️♣️

Thursday Leicester Square jaunts: When you're on the way to the cinema and accidentally walk onto the black & pink carpet for the Ballerina premiere! And the actual reason for being there - to see Mission Impossible: Final Reckoning (with Batman watching over us).
Run, little Tom, run.

Thursday’s theatre jaunt: #Tina at Aldwych theatre. I broke my jukebox musical rule for this one & I'm very glad I did! Karis Anderson is heartbreaking as Tina Turner, and the songs are woven into her life story. This flew by & moved me more than I'd expected. Go see it before it ends in September.

Today’s evening jaunt: #PopOffMichelangelo at the Underbelly Boulevard, SoHo. Best described as a funny thing happened on the way to the Sistine Chapel! 🎭🎨👨‍🎨🎶

Today’s matinee jaunt: #Retrograde at the Apollo Theatre. In these times, a warning of obeying in advance against creeping control gives this a particular relevance. Ivanno Jeremiah channels a commanding Sidney
Poitier. Highly recommended 🎭

Today’s evening jaunt: Another ballet at the Royal Opera House - this time a mixed programme for #BalletToBroadway choreographed by Christopher Wheeldon. The pieces Us and An American in Paris were worth the price of admission alone 🩰

Afternoon activity: a jaunt to the National Theatre Archives at Waterloo, to view #Hangmen (2016) with David Morrissey, Johnny Flynn & Andy Nyman - and an opportunity to review some of the materials around it. Definitely coming back to do this again! 🖥️🎭

Saturday night’s jaunt: Romeo & Juliet at the Royal Opera House. Absolutely gorgeous, and nice to hear an audience listening to Prokofiev’s score going ‘oh that’s where The Apprentice theme music comes from’ 😆🩰

Today’s comedy jaunt: I last saw Katherine Ryan perform stand-up the final night of her Glitter Room tour in 2018, and life has changed dramatically for her since then! #Battleaxe at the London Palladium was as fabulously funny a Saturday night as I was hoping for 👏🏻🎭

Today’s matinee jaunt: on a beautifully hot day - perfect to go to the theatre 😆 to see #Manhunt @royalcourt.bsky.social - I need to sit with this one, but Samuel Edward-Cook’s performance is intense and I don’t know how he does it so many times a week. An interesting piece for sure 🎭

Today’s evening jaunt: #HereWeAre by David Ives & #StephenSondheim at the National Theatre, Lyttleton. Tremendous that he saw these ideas becoming part of the conversation. And what a cast! Fantastic to see these performances up close 🎭🎶

Today’s matinee jaunt: The Brightening Air at The Old Vic - very Irish, and very Vanya influenced! Rosie Sheehy was as amazing as always, and Chris O’Dowd should definitely do more theatre 🎭

Today’s jaunt: a preview performance of The Comedy About Spies at the Noël Coward theatre. We’ve been lucky to see the originating cast on all of their Mischief outings - and had a jolly good time on their latest mission 🎭🕵🏼‍♂️👀

Today’s jaunt: The Rise & Fall of Vinnie & Paul. A musical about the relationship between Van Gough & Gaugin during their ill-fated stay in Provence. A special piece that is an affecting musical making good use of the space The Vault in Waterloo. Hope to see this one go further

#WorldTheatreDay jaunt: what better way to mark it than #Elektra at the Duke of York - one of the most divisive shows on at the moment. For any issues it may have, I loved the Greek chorus element and was happy to go with it! 🎭

Today’s matinee jaunt: the magnificent Punch at the Young Vic - as a Nottingham girl I was right there with them in this frenetic and moving story about what justice can look like. James Graham has written something amazing, and the cast knock it out of the park 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
