Never have a motto — that’s what I always say.
Bannon, a wrong’un. Huh, who’d have thought.
Here are Bannon and Epstein, after cracking a joke about being the most highly paid travel agent for booking private jets to fly Bannon everywhere:

"Bannon: U r pretty good asst

Epstein: Massages. Not Included"

Here is the Newsweek magazine article that led to the song "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald," marked up to show key passages that Lightfoot borrowed. Short thread at quoted post. Thanks to @bikeguy.bsky.social for reminding me about this. #EdmundFitzgerald50

I do like how, in the bit of Prescott's memo where he criticises the BBC for editing together different parts of Trump's speech, his own quote of "what Trump actually said" is... edited together from different parts of his speech.

Getting into Bob Dylan’s 1966 Live Recordings. CD1: Sydney, 13/4 acoustic set. Speaking voice sounds stoned. Some guitar tuning problems but Bob’s singing is phenomenal. Audience hugely enthusiastic. Harmonica playing impressive too. Must have strong lungs. 9/10

Verdict of one Labour grandee I just bumped into: “Ed Miliband is the person most likely to be the most next Prime Minister”.

My takeaway from every new Epstein revelation is that some powerful people victimized many powerless young women, many more knew, some actively enabled it--and we're still being told that MeToo and accountability for sexual violence have gone too far

Great piece by Zadie Smith. When the right talks about classics or "Western" culture, these works are only important to the extent that it demonstrates their superiority, they have no interest in art in and of itself beyond that www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

I'd just like to belatedly apologise for killing music with all that home taping I did in the 1980s.

I share my father's recollections of Kristallnacht almost every year on the anniversary. This year, with Trump's Brownshirts arresting people across the country, the similarities are stark.

#nowplaying Excellent songs including by Donovan (Lord of the Reedy River alone worth the price of admission), Harry Nilsson and George Martin and produced by P McCartney. Some of Paul’s granny music but also weird folk, exquisite arrangements and singing. Purchased from a charity shop last week.

The BBC is apologising for its Panorama edit. It shouldn’t. First, the narrative is true: Donald Trump *did* incite the Capitol riot. Second, the apology won’t appease those attacking it. So why not at least stand for something?

Wrote this on it earlier this week:

The BBC was right about the Capitol riots. In a sane world, Trump would be in jail
The US President faced impeachment over the violence, and in a world where Republicans had more courage, he would have been found guilty
