“This shit sucks, and it sucks having to explain why it sucks and it sucks that assholes will argue it doesn’t suck.”

Can I get an amen?

Thanks to @peteski.bsky.social for the image and capturing the feeling

To our #trans and #non-binary siblings: Your God-given human dignity cannot be taken away by executive order.

"I want to be part of a people who sees the darkness, knows it's real, and then lights a candle anyway." - Sarah Bessey

The people
who walked in
the unblinking glare
of artificial light
have found relief
in the Dark;
those who live
in a land of constant
over-exposure—
them has the Holy
embraced with cool
and soothing darkness.

Special Sunday lunch ala David: amazing crunchy moist fried chicken seasoned with a sage-parsley salt, sautéed Brussels sprouts, and celeriac mash with a whole bunch of crispy fried sage leaves, and a fresh cranberry-orange relish good enough to eat as a salad!

“Who’s a beacon of light in these bleak, unrelentingly times? Is it you? Is it you?”

It’s hard work, isn’t it pastors? No wonder dogs sleep so much (and so soundly)!

David’s self-imposed—and delicious—dessert project for the day, a traditional French dessert, a Mont Blanc: a meringue base piled with whipped cream and sweetened chestnut paste. It was extra good with some homemade raspberry jam on the side, as recommended.

A Prayer for #ChosenFamily by Devon Spier

A reminder in this holiday season when family expectations… and tensions… can run high: Healthy boundaries “are the distance at which I can love you & me simultaneously.”
- Prentis Hemphill

May the peace of Christ reign in your heart, if not at your table.

Prayers for a happier #Thanksgiving

For food and drink & friendship, we offer thanks.
May our table be blessed; our gratitude deepened our compassion widened;
& our lives ordered in generous & unselfish ways; for our sake & the sake of the world. Amen.

We pray for the safety of all who travel in this holiday season, whether by car or plane, train, bus, or boat, & for all who shepherd them along the way. Keep their hearts & minds free from anxiety at every step.

Dunno why this popped into my head but here it is. “‘Jesus hisself would love this Church. They got one of every kind of sinner ever was in here.’ And I begin to point ‘em all out. I don’t think they appreciated that.” Thank you, Miss Betty Butterfield, wherever you are.

If we don’t start distinguishing between who is an enemy and who is an imperfect ally.
we aren’t going to survive.

No act of love is ever wasted.

No matter how small.
No matter how fleeting.
No matter how random.
No matter how hopeless.
No matter how unrecognized.
No matter how unappreciated.

Don’t be discouraged. Go ahead and put one more feather on the scale on the side of love today.

When we say “Love your neighbor,” it’s less about smiling at strangers and more about resisting dehumanization and protecting the vulnerable among us.

“Mourn the dead & fight like hell for the living”

IG@thefoxfisher gives these words from organizer “Mother” Jones new life on #TDOR. We remember too many #transgender persons, especially #transwomen of color, killed by violence, abuse, & neglect. #SayTheirNames & may their joy be for a memorial.

Dad, doomscrolling: " This world is so messed up."
Child, standing at his knee: "Dad?"
Dad: "I'm so sorry, bud."
Dad puts a hand on his child's shoulder.
Dad: "Come on... Let's go do something good."
Child, excitedly "Yeah!"
Dad & child walk away holding hands."
