I spent the morning at the WORLD’S LARGEST CYCLOTRON (particle accelerator) which is located at UBC @triumflab.bsky.social thanks to @johnbiehler.bsky.social

Parts of the cyclotron or at least parts that lead down into it from on top of giant concrete blocks. I’m sorry I have no idea how to describe all of these very technical components. There are lots and lots of wires too. The side of a concrete building with a logo (for the particle accelerator) embossed on the front. The grey, brutalist backdrop is in contrast to a lovely sun-lit tree on the right with delicate pink blossoms. The Electron Hall which looks like a giant warehouse with massive yellow concrete blocks stacked up all around the left and back of the building, metal pipes and tubes with wires traveling every which way. In the distance a person in a red hard hat walks down a metal staircase and there’s a blue banner against some of those yellow blocks that says TRIUMF Looking down and a bunch of equipment with tubes and wires, and various components and there’s a poster of a dragon on the side of a cabinet filled with more components. Not unsurprisingly, I did something super nerdy last night - I got an Atari 800xl emulator (Altirra) running on my Steam Deck which then connected to Fujinet which is also connected to a local raspberry pi file server.
