DE & FR > EN translator, Marzahn Mon Amour by Katja Oskamp and more to come! joheinrichtranslation.co.uk
👋 Hello lovely Blueskyers! Do I (or you?) know any gothic novel fans (or even better, with links to the UK publishing industry)? A student I know is keen to ask research questions about British gothic novels by women authors over the years and their correlation with societal changes. And pls share!

@ronanhession.bsky.social hello! I wanted to message you about an ARC of a book I think you might like but I see I can't (you must be too famous now you're hobnobbing with Julia Roberts 😆). If you'd like to have one, could you get in touch please, maybe via my website joheinrichtranslation.co.uk ?

Out today! I have learned SO much translating this book and I’ve been surreptitiously quoting from it whenever the conversation’s turned dark for months. Now you can too!

Publication day for this beast! This year’s ’pinch me’ moment was being asked to be part of a team of translators to work on this so it could be published worldwide on the same day. So lovely to work with everyone else, I miss those Friday meetings!

There's something very strange going on here, judging by the crazy numbers of new followers I'm getting today 🤔 It's very flattering but all I'll say is that if you'd like me to follow you back, please write a bio and don't make your only posts a tirade against The Other Place?

Celebrating #InternationalTranslationDay2024 by a) emailing the company I do commercial work for to ask them to stop undercutting me and my team with someone cheaper 😠👊 and b) joyfully sneaking the word 'whopper' into the book I'm currently translating 😁

I'm not sure I'll ever get over the odd sensation of flicking through a book, only to find the words you translated in there 🙂

Today I've been updating my website and it now includes some sample translations I've worked on so you can get a feel for what I do, although they're by no means exhaustive. Take a look here (especially if you're in publishing!): joheinrichtranslation.co.uk
