A while back I asked folks why they’re joining Bluesky and the most common response I saw was, “I just want a good place to get my news” and, yall, no. Bad.

I just logged on to say that Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell is probably the best fantasy novel of the last 100 years.

There is genius on every page.

Yet again, on here because the rest of the social world is imploding.

Just finished Mo Hayder's The Birdman, which is an excellent, excellent book.

To celebrate reaching 1000 friends here on Bluesky I will say something tone deaf and objectionable to get the number back down.

Or rec a book, IDK.

As I am a writer and must peddle my wares lest I die in the abyss, hey! In April 2025, THE STAIRCASE IN THE WOODS emerges from the fog and the trees and if you wanted to pre-order it from your favorite local bookstore -- or get signed, personalized copies from Doylestown Bookshop -- that'd be nice.

Hey, my horror friends, do any of you know of any magazines or publishers that are open to short story submissions?

I have new author looking to submit their first stories.

I would love to set them in the right direction.

My Twitter account, which I deactivated over a year ago, is now on X as “Suspended”.

Maybe Elon reinstates deactivated accounts but suspends them to show inflated numbers?

Yay me!

Glad to hear Laird Barron is on the mend. Now go give him a follow, and even better yet, go read his novels and collections. Truly, one of the greatest horror writers out there.

I always think promo & being proud of oneself is what other people are allowed to do, but not me.
So anyway this is my first ever book. Wrote the whole thing, can you imagine? It alternates between being cozy and batshit.
There's at least two more on the way. They get a lot weirder!

Lots of new followers. Bluesky makes it hard to see them, so please say "Hi" so I can follow back.

Welcome to Bluesky new people.

This seems like a good time to recommend Howard Zinn’s A People’s History of the United States.

Every forced march of civilians is mass murder by proxy.

Repeated forced marches after enforcing malnutrition, illness and terror is even more murderous and without doubt a series of war crimes.
