Those who previously believed that neither the Trump Administration nor the Supreme Court majority were cruel and lawless enough to halt SNAP grocery payments to 42 million of the most vulnerable Americans were wrong.

Supreme Court extends pause on order requiring full SNAP payments
The Trump administration has twice gone to the Supreme Court in recent days, seeking to prevent other judges from forcing it to fully fund SNAP benefits for November.

In response to this claim that the "strategy didn't work."

The people were on our side. We were building momentum to help save our democracy. We could have won - the premium increase notices were just starting.

And giving in now will embolden him. Things will likely get worse.

You might think that, given the Dems' concessions in the Senate last night, the Trump administration would give up on its battle to withhold SNAP funding.

Wait, you didn't think that. Neither did any other sane person.

My family has been without half our income for 40 days. It has been.. very hard.

We are willing to feel that pain so people can have health care next year, or to undo these illegal recissions.

We are not willing to have been put through this for NOTHING.

If any some Senate Democrats agree to a deal to reopen the federal government without any substantive health care wins at all, that will be a grievous mistake, both substantively & politically. The mass suffering of the last six weeks would have been entirely in vain.

The only thing more dangerous than an asleep President Trump would be an awake President Vance.

Paraphrasing the Bible, Lincoln famously said a “house divided against itself cannot stand,” meaning the U.S. could not endure if it was partially enslaved and partially free. Likewise, America can’t survive for long if 47 million of its residents suffer from hunger.

So it turns out... the US air travel system was incredibly, deeply dependent on federal funding to just run day-to-day all this time, to the benefit of private airline shareholders, when everyone thinks that state-run trains are leeching off the government. Weird!

www.opensecrets.org/industries/i... Insurance companies have overwhelmingly funded the GOP more than Dems. The notion that Republicans are really taking on the insurance industry now is complete bullshit.

I’ve worked in & around politics for decades but the modern GOP is the most cynical, ideology-free, political entity I’ve ever seen in America. Their latest gambit— claiming that the reason they hate the ACA is that is subsidizes private insurance companies — is so obviously a load of crap.

Love this. The election “wasn’t contentious. In fact, Mr. Drew said he remained “very close” with his former teacher, fondly recalling that Mr. Bell twice took him to Richmond to shadow lawmakers. Mr. Bell, for his part, said he was “over the moon” when he found out who he would be running against.”

Given that we have a president who literally looked away when a man collapsed in his office, it’s no surprise that he’s looking away when his own government is making 42 million Americans far hungrier.

After the GOP faced whopping election losses because they denied a broad swath of Americans food and healthcare, the GOP is doubling down on denying a broad swath of Americans food and health care.

That’s both moral depravity and political suicide.
